Formby Reserves  4 - 5  Workington Reserves

Thursday 21st January 2010

Reds completed a back-to-back double over Formby when they resumed their Lancashire League programme at the Altcar Road ground on Thursday.

Adam Main

In a fluctuating battle played on a poor pitch with heavy rain throughout, Reds included Dan Shannon and Stephen Hindmarch in their line-up.

It didn’t go so well for Dan who came off just before half-time with a hamstring problem but Stephen got ninety minutes under his belt, provided assists for two of the goals and left the Formby defence mesmerised several times with his wonderful dribbling skills.

Adam Main had put Reds ahead as early as the 3rd minute but Formby equalised direct from a free-kick on the half hour.

Formby went ahead early in the second half but Lee McCullough levelled the scores soon after with

Richard Bannister

a superb twenty-five yarder.

Goals from Richard Bannister, like Shannon and Hindmarch making his debut, and Main put Reds into a 4-2 lead but Formby stormed back with two goals of their own.

Bannister then netted the winner ten minutes from time to record a fine win for Steve Lee’s side – their first on the road this season.

Reserves:  Lee Jolly, Simon Bragg, Greg Mitchell, Dion Barnes, Dan McDermott, Lee McCullough, Levi Johnson, Adam Main, Dan Shannon (Richard Bannister), Stephen Hindmarch, Jake Smith.

Man of the Match:  Adam Main

Their next Lancashire League fixture is on Thursday when Barrow Reserves visit Borough Park (8pm).
