Chorley Reserves  3 - 0  Workington Reserves

Thu 26th February 2009

This game followed the trend of many other Reserve games with the defence and midfield playing well but the forward line failing to put away their chances.

The Reds chances fell to Martin Rossi who had a 40 yard shot, that had the Chorley keeper scrambling back, that just clearing the cross bar, while Adam Maine had a shot pushed wide for a corner and Gareth Brunton (left) saw his effort also just clear the cross bar.

The game was goal less at half time but early in the second half Chorley took the lead with a truly wonderful goal that would have had Liniker and Hanson eulogising for a fortnight if it had featured on Match of the Day. The goal came from a free kick on the left edge of the Reds penalty area that was thumped into net, coming to rest nestling against stanchion in the far top corner of the net.

Chorley's second goal came on 65 minutes from a break down the Reds left wing. Cutting inside the winger let fly from 20 yards finding the bottom corner of the net.

Chorley made it three on 79 minutes with another shot from distance, this time a 25 yard effort that also found the bottom corner.

Reds Reserves: James Bryden, Martin Rossi, Michael Grayson, Dan McDermott, Craig Johnston, Aaron Roberts, Gareth Brunton, Adam Maine, Andy Murray-Jones, Nick Holden, Simeon Lee, Leeroy Johnston, Greg Mitchell.
