Recap

Top of the table Reds travelled to play league strugglers Pennington but dropped two valuable points after their most inept display for weeks.

It could have been worse because they were two goals down inside fifteen minutes and not looking like the team who had climbed to the top of the table with an impressive sequence of results.

After winning the home encounter, 7-0, Workington may have been a tad complacent ahead of the return but, whatever the reason, the draw could hamper their title aspirations.

An early penalty and a well worked goal gave Pennington the advantage and it was mid-way through the first half before Reds reduced the arrears when Owen Johnston headed home via a corner.

They eventually equalised before half time when Jayden Fulton converted from close range after a good Callum Bell cross.

Having got back into the game, Reds lacked patience and composure in the second half and squandered two good chances.

Then, in the final minute, they had the ball in the net but it was disallowed as someone had strayed offside.

They remain top at the moment but a three-point advantage over AR/Elite is tempered by the fact their rivals have two games in hand.

Team: Joe Rumney, Luke Routledge, Owen Johnston, Harrison Telford, Callum Bell, Kelvin Amor, Joe Douglas, Sam Christian, Liam White, Jayden Fulton, Joe Carney.  Substitutes – Brad Keenan, Alfie Schofield, Leyton Roberts (all used).
