Loan Goalkeeper Announced

Workington AFC are pleased to confirm the loan signing of Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jack Barrett until the end of the season.

The move comes following an injury to first-team goalkeeper Alex Mitchell, who sustained a quad tear during Tuesday night’s victory over Bamber Bridge.

Scans have unfortunately confirmed that he could be sidelined for up to six weeks, and with Danny Eccles also unavailable in the coming weeks, 22-year-old Barrett joins the squad to provide crucial cover.

Barrett developed through Everton’s academy from the age of nine before signing for Blackburn in July 2024 following a loan spell with Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC.

Jack will be available for selection in tomorrow’s home fixture against Hyde United. We also extend our best wishes to Alex Mitchell for a full and speedy recovery.

I’m really excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started, and hopefully win as many games as possible from now until the end of the season!
