Borough Park Legends Day
We are delighted to announce a not to be missed date for your diaries as we unveil our Borough Park Legends Day on Sunday 27th April.
As part of a weekend feast of football the final home game of the season will take place on Saturday 26th followed by the players Presentation Night.
On the Sunday it will be time to roll back the years as two teams of former Borough Park greats face off in what we are sure will be a hotly contested game in aid of 3 amazing charities.
We are hoping to raise loads of money for our chosen charities who have all supported at least one of our former players and their families in the past.
Those great causes are:
West Cumbria Hospice at Home
Motor Neurone Disease Association
Young Lives v Cancer (formerly Clic Sargent)
It won’t just be 90 minutes of on the field action as the morning will see Reds stars of the future take to the turf as our Reds in the Community and JPL boys and girls will entertain those who want to make a day of it.
We’ll have lots of other things going on too. Our Legends Lunch and Parade for those who aren’t inclined to don their boots. Live music in the Tony Hopper Bar plus lots more to be revealed.
So what about the main event:
Two true Workington footballing greats will manage the teams with Craig Johnston and Gari Rowntree going head to head, yes it’s Jonno’s Legends v Gaz’s Legends, we’ll announce the players soon but it’s an amazing line up that will bring back great memories for any Reds’ fan.
There’s also a chance for four lucky fans to join the teams throughout the afternoon and play a cameo role on the pitch. Details on that to follow, watch this space.
Don’t fancy playing, we’ll have other ways to get involved, sponsor a legends kit for the day, they are very special! join our Legends Lunch in The Shankly Bar where there will be a question and answer session and photo opportunities or maybe an auction item might take your fancy?
Maybe Stand Up Bingo is your thing, we have a Legend who just loves a game so we’ll have a unique game of that too (he doesn’t know yet). Lets just have a bit of fun and support our amazing causes.
We want to see as many as possible on the Borough Park terraces as we see the season out in style. Ticket details will be announced very soon but get the date in your diary now.
Be sure to keep an eye on the clubs Social Media channels as we build up to the big day.
