MATCH PREVIEW: Can Reds tame the Tigers

Workington have met Hyde/Hyde United no fewer than 37 times in League, Cup and Trophy action but our overall record against the Tigers is not so good.

Hyde certainly hold the bragging rights in our Northern Premier League battles, having won thirteen times compared to just four Workington successes, with four matches finishing as draws.

Indeed, Reds haven’t got the better of Hyde in NPL action on home soil since the mid-eighties!

We faired slightly better in our fourteen meetings under the Conference North banner, winning six times and losing just twice and sharing the points on six other occasions.

The most recent encounter, back in October, also went against us when Jack Redshaw converted a last-gasp penalty to secure a 3-2 win for Hyde – their seventh win against us in eight meetings.

For much of the season they were in play-off contention but they dropped quite a few points in December and January and are currently 10, four points better than Reds.

Like us, they came from behind to win (3-1 v. llkeston Town) on Tuesday, ending a ten-match winless sequence.

After the welcome win at Bamber Bridge, Mark Fell would have been keen to name an unchanged squad but an injury to Alex Mitchell, the only player to have appeared in every league game this term, will see a change in goal. Jack Barrett has joined the club on loan from Blackburn Rovers and the 22-year-old could make his debut between the posts.

Kick-off 3pm.
