Reds confirm pre-season schedule
Darren Edmondson has confirmed seven friendlies, so far, ahead of the Northern Premier League campaign which gets underway on the 9 August.
And supporters can look forward to facing different opposition with first ever meetings against Caledonian Braves and Heaton Stannington, plus rare trips to Dumfries and Cleator Moor.
It is a refreshing programme of fixtures against various levels of opposition and should help Reds attain a decent level of match fitness by the start of August.
First up is a cross-border raid to Dumfries to take on Peter Murphy’s Queen of the South side at the end of June with a trip to Penrith the following week.
Borough Park will host a first ever meeting against Scottish Lowland League outfit, Caledonian Braves, followed by an intriguing clash at Cleator Moor.
Reds will then travel to Newcastle for an inaugural clash against Heaton Stannington, managed by former Workington player, Dean Nicholson. The charity game at Whitehaven has been put back to 29 July before the preparations conclude with a visit from Carlisle United.
