RIP Cain

Hundreds of mourners turned out to say an emotional farewell to local footballer, Cain Pears.

The former Reds and Whitehaven midfielder was killed in a road traffic accident last month and his funeral took place on Wednesday at Our Lady and St Michael Church in Workington.

The service was led by Canon John Watson before a packed church, followed by the committal at Distington Hall.

Cain, 20, played for Reds for three seasons between 2021 and 2024.
