Squad rebuild gathers momentum

The re-shaping of Reds’ squad for the new season continues with Darren Edmondson announcing his third summer recruit.

Left-sided central defender, Jack Dickinson, will become the latest addition to the squad subject to International Clearance being obtained.

Dickinson has been playing Lowland League football with Gretna 2008 most recently but can reflect on a wealth of experience throughout Cumbria and Dumfries & Galloway.

The West Cumbrian spent eight years with the Carlisle United academy and that was followed by two years with Queen of the South.  He has had four spells at Raydale Park and also had a productive spell with Dalbeattie Star and, during his time at Islecroft, was voted Player of the Year by both his team mates and the supporters.

This side of the border he has played for Carlisle City and Penrith.

Dickinson, 27, was born in Whitehaven and spent his school years in Seascale and Egremont.

Now based in Carlisle, Jack is looking forward to meeting his new colleagues and welcomes the new challenge.

I grew up in West Cumbria and was obviously aware of Workington Reds’ stature and now I’m looking forward to playing for them.

My career, so far, has been spent in this part of the world and I think I can make a valuable contribution to the club going forward.
