Recap
Reds lost ground in the race for the JPL title when they finished second best to an impressive Rylands team at Lakes College.
Despite the boost of scoring first, Reds were well below par and the visitors emerged worthy winners. They held the lead until half time but only because Joe Rumney pulled off a series of fine saves.
Rylands were back on terms just after the restart following a good move and a confident finish. And, soon after, they got their noses in front and would have been out of sight had it not been for Rumney.
He kept Reds in contention with three decent saves and was one of the few to impress on a disappointing afternoon.
With ten minutes to go, Ben Carini equalised after meeting an inch-perfect cross from Joe Douglas.
But the hosts were unable to build on that late equaliser and allowed Warrington to score a last-gasp winner following some sloppy defending.
Reds have an early opportunity to avenge what could prove a damaging defeat when they meet Rylands again next week, this time in the League Cup.
